Lonoff has betrayed his wife, Hope, with a former apprentice named Amy Bellette, whom Zuckerman by hook or by crook imagines to be none other than Anne Frank. Secrets are revealed. Tempers flare. Amy drives off into the snow. The acolyte takes it altogether in.
